Salt of the Earth. That's Katie & Dave.
The phrase is used to describe people who are basically and fundamentally good and who better the world around them by being a part of it. When you spend any bit of time with them, you can see right away that their world is certainly better for having one another! As a wedding photographer, I see so many couples in love. There are all different ways that couples show their love but Katie & Dave have one of my favorite kinds of love...the steady, solid, sure kind. While the morning prep went smoothly and Katie buzzed with excitement and last minute details, it was the moment that they had their First Look and were finally together that really began the day. In those first quiet moments, I could see the excitement to become husband and wife in both of their eyes, I saw them reach out to comfort one another and I felt the way they both became more sure, more balanced in one another's company.
Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa was the ideal location for their charcoal and deep purple, Up North wedding day and the weather was perfection! After the First Look, we had the opportunity to take all the wedding party and family portraits prior to the wedding, calming nerves and adding to the fun, casualness of the event. While Crystal Mountain has several ceremony options to choose from, Dave & Katie's Art Park location was certainly a scene stealer. Katie and her girls relaxed among the trees sharing stories and champaign as guests arrived and Dave waited nervously with his guys. The flower girls made a howling and hilarious entrance followed by the lovely bridesmaids in beautiful long gowns and carrying flowers from Victoria's Florals. Katie looked confident and glowing as she descended the stairs on her fathers arm...everyone was just so happy! It was really a lovely moment, you could feel the joy!
After their wedding ceremony, everyone shuttled to the tented reception for a cocktail hour spent catching up with friends and family, playing lawn games and taking in the gorgeous day. Katie & Dave were announced, had their first dance as husband and wife and then joined their guests for more laughs and hugs. The groom's cake Katie had chosen to surprise Dave with was a gorgeously detailed Liverpool Football Club insignia created by All Cakes All Occasions. He was blown away! Toasts and dinner, dancing and a campfire for guests to toast their s'mores...the evening ended as perfectly as the day began.
If you listened closely, Katie told Dave in her vows to him that he would never walk alone; a cute tribute to the signature song of Dave's Liverpool Football Club. It is a fitting way to remind Katie & Dave that they never walk alone. They have their families. They have the love of all of their friends. And they have one another.
Congratulations Katie & Dave! May your marriage be even more beautiful than the wedding day!
When you walk through a storm, hold your head up highAnd don’t be afraid of the darkAt the end of the storm, there’s a golden skyAnd the sweet, silver song of a lark
Walk on, walk onWith hope in your heartAnd you’ll never walk aloneYou’ll never walk alone
